This statistics rich presentation will give the status of the commercial space sector from both a business to government and business to business perspective. Keynote: Embodied Cognition for a Mission to Mars with IBM Watson
Embodied cognition brings artificial intelligence to the physical world. By placing an AI in a robot, an avatar, an object in your hand, or even in the walls of an operating room, conference room, or spacecraft, we take the ability of that system to understand and reason and draw it closer to the natural ways in which humans live and work. In so doing, we can augment human intelligence and ability. IBM’s Grady Booch and Chris Codella will trace the evolution of this initiative, show its application using Watson services to flight operations and pilot assistance, and offer and what the future might hold for a mission to Mars.

Keynote: United Launch Alliance Boosting the Future
The global population is growing exponentially. Collective standard of living is growing at an even faster rate. Will Earth be able to support its human population 20, 50, 100 years from now? Space beckons with nearly limitless resources that that can sustain our civilization indefinitely. The United Launch Alliance (ULA) is developing the transportation that will enable access to these resources and return finished products to support our life on Earth. ULA’s next-gen rockets strapped to its upper stage vehicle called Vulcan ACES will power long duration deep space missions never before possible. This capability will enable the access to space resources, construction of permanent space habitats, and development of space based industry—all for the benefit of humankind.
